- A modern method of a digital readout for gaseous detectors in particle physics is using the Timepix pixel chip. Its main application would be for the future International Linear Collider, currently planned. As a digital pixel chip, its electronics has certain limitations which must be corrected through a full calibration of the chip. The goal of the calibration is to both correct for effects in the chip, and also convert the readout data from ADC counts into physical time and charge data. The Timepix chip was calibrated with the Bonn time-projection-chamber using injection pulses, and the calibration was implemented into the analysis reconstruction chain.
